My "wild" prediction:

Reggie not only stays healthy for all 16, but he leads the league in scoring, is in the top 15 in receiving with 80 catches for nearly 1000 yards and 8 receiving TD, has 200 carries for 850 yards (4.25 per) and 6 rushing TDs, and brings another 4 back on punts. Bush is talked about as potential MVP, with well over 2200 all purpose yards (1000 rushing, 850 receiving, 350+ returns) and 18 TDs on the season. Bush fails to score in only 2 games all season.

Frankly, staying healthy 16 games is wild enough for me.

Wild predictions...

1. After a nearly flawless pre-season...the Saints drop their opener to Detroit by 3 points.

2. Pierre Thomas is a non-factor until November or December, where he once again goes from
being Ki-Jana Carter to Emmitt Smith. The Saints are 7-6 at that point in the season.

3. In a critical game against Tampa Bay....the Saints committ a turnover to seal their fate.
Of course, they are still "mathematically live" afterwards, if about 10 teams lose and
they are able to collect a semen sample from Brett Favre (that will officially become
one of the playoff tiebreakers, effective immediately).

4. Someone starts a post on SaintsReport.com after that Tampa Bay game saying " Now is the time
for Joey Harrington"..

5. The Saints, shockingly, finish with less than 10 wins and 1 win shy of whatever was needed
to get into the playoffs.

6. Jeremy Shockey demands a trade
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, those predictions are based on past trends in history.....but they seem wild enough.

Truth be told, they'll go 11-5 this year.

[font="Georgia"]I'll make a few wild predictions for this year. 1. The Saints sign Derrick Brooks to shore up the LB position. They wait so Brooks doesn't get miles on his legs during camp and preseason. 2. Bell gets cut for Herb Donaldson, who then becomes "finisher," similar to Bettis when Pittsburgh won SB #5 for them. 3. Grant gets traded to a 3-4 team that values DEs with ummmmm size, for draft picks.

Bump.

These are pretty freaking funny nowadays. I am going like 1/7 on mine. It's funny how possible wild card births and 10-6 seasons turned into home field and 16-0.

So far DP51 might be the "stock broker" of this thread.
It's cold and windy. I can assure you.

That was hardly a "wild" prediction.

Seriously Zimp, did you really think we'd have a top 10 defense and lead the league in INTs and takeaways? I thought we'd improved greatly but I'd definitely call DP's prediction "wild" back at the end of July.

It depends on how you look at it. In some ways, this is EXACTLY what Gregg Williams was supposed to bring with him. A stingy defense that created turnovers and wreaked havoc. Sorta like how Brett Favre was SUPPOSED to provide quarterback stability and do good things in Minnesota....and so far he has.

That being said, very few people actually stepped up and said we WILL have a top 10 defense, and we WILL lead the league in turnovers, so yeah...Dome Patrol deserves his props.

Exactly. I think most of us knew that under Williams' leadership we'd have a better chance at winning those 3 pt margin games and our chances of making it to the post season would be much higher.

I expected us to be ranked defensively somewhere in the #15-20 range which certainly would have given us enough extra boost to make the playoffs. I honestly thought it would take a season or two for us to really become a formidable defensive unit. I'm elated to have been wrong.

Well, I wouldn't have called it a "wild" prediction. Payton didn't give up a quarter of a million dollars for mediocrity (i.e., middle of the pack defense). As BHS said, he did exactly what he was supposed to do.

And, by the way, we're currently at 15th in total defense. Sometimes, perception isn't reality.
