Saints Draft Another Cornerback In Georgia’s Damian Swann
- Updated: May 2, 2015
The New Orleans Saints traded back into the fifth round to select Georgia cornerback Damian Swann with the 167th overall pick.
The Saints, who held the 187th overall pick, sent the Redskins that pick and a 2016 sixth-round pick to move up.
The 6’0, 189 pound Swann was a three-year starter for the Bulldogs.
NFL’s scouting report says:
“Natural corner who has played and can play all over field. Played in the box in dime package and used as deep safety on a few snaps. Good length pressing and crowding receivers to the sideline. At his best as bump-and-run corner playing inside leverage. Thin but physical in run support. Covered big receivers and tight ends from the slot. Blitzes like a heat-seeking missile.”
Swann has eight career interceptions, 21 pass breakups and six forced fumbles.
